As one of the UK's leading strip-out contractors, Umberslade recognises its responsibility to lead the way in sustainable practices. A core objective of our business is to significantly reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill.
In the UK alone, approximately 4.5 million tonnes of waste wood are generated each year—much of which can be diverted from landfill through effective recycling and reuse strategies.
Wood recycling plays a critical role in the circular economy. As a finite natural resource, wood is both valuable and relatively easy to recycle. By recycling waste wood, we help to conserve forests, reduce emissions associated with wood imports, and support local economies through job creation and the development of sustainable industries.
At Umberslade, we remain committed to achieving zero waste to landfill. Our approach includes comprehensive waste segregation, the reuse of materials wherever possible, and robust recycling processes. These efforts are central to our mission of building a more sustainable future for the construction and demolition industry in the UK.
