DHL industrial strip-out.

Another major industrial strip-out is now well underway — and on schedule.

This time, it’s for DHL, one of the UK’s largest distribution and logistics operators, with a vast industrial facility being stripped back to core structure, ready for upgrades and repurposing.

Umberslade’s role, full-scale industrial strip out, controlled demolition, and diamond drilling across every square metre — completed safely, efficiently, and without disruption.

Full Industrial Decommissioning and Strip Out

This DHL industrial strip-out project involves the complete removal of redundant infrastructure and mechanical systems.

Our teams are systematically dismantling and removing:

  • Extensive racking systems, rails, and mezzanine platforms.
  • Conveyors, bollards, safety barriers, and charging stations.
  • Obsolete fire lines, services, and redundant plant equipment.
  • Over 38,878 anchor points are being drilled out, made good, and prepared for the next construction phase.

Every operation is a mix of precision work by hand and machine-assisted removal, maintaining absolute control and protection of the building’s structure throughout the process.

Engineered Access and Controlled Heavy Plant Operation

To enable safe access for larger machinery, two structural wall sections on separate elevations have been carefully removed and will be fully reinstated once the heavy plant work is complete.

This engineered access allows efficient entry for excavators, shears, and core drilling rigs, ensuring productivity without compromising the building envelope.

Our machinery operates on rubber tracks, using hydraulic shears for precision dismantling of heavy steelwork — preventing floor surface damage and maintaining site integrity throughout.

Integrated Teams and Seamless Coordination

All drilling, sawing, cutting, and demolition operations are handled in-house, managed directly from Umberslade HQ.

With the launch of our new Umberslade Diamond Drilling & Sawing Division, every aspect is integrated and aligned — meaning no delays, no subcontractor bottlenecks, and no fuss.

From track sawing and core drilling to wire sawing and controlled demolition, the combined team delivers total precision across every stage.

Recycling and Environmental Responsibility

All materials are segregated on-site for recycling — steel, concrete, and waste streams are separated at source, supported by Umberslade’s own skip fleet.

This closed-loop process reduces environmental impact, enhances efficiency, and ensures full compliance with UK sustainability and waste management standards.

Snag Zero — Clean, Compliant, Ready

Our Snag Zero standard ensures that once the strip-out is complete, the site is clean, compliant, and ready for redevelopment.

Industrial strip-out is more than demolition — it’s precision dismantling, methodical planning, and site protection for the next construction phase.
